A little bump in the swell was great to see this morning. The surf was pumping overhead at Gas Chambers when we arrived at 9:45am. Stephen and Randy, the owner of our little apartment, paddled out while I threw on some fins and made the swim with my GoPro. Meanwhile, Becca posted up on the beach with my Nikon.
I had a blast swimming and shooting photos at Gas Chambers. It was definitely a challenge taking 8-10 foot waves on the head and trying to position myself to get the best shots. There were a few huge sets that really got my adrenaline pumping out there. I also noticed that the GoPro 3 has about a half second delay when using burst mode… Sadly, I ended up missing a lot of my shots because of this delay, but hey that’s part of the learning curve. I still snagged a few good ones.
After shooting in the water for a while I took my Nikon up to Rocky Point. The guys at Rocky Point were getting barreled left and right. It was such an awesome show. Tomorrow morning I might swim out there for some shots…. Stay tuned.
